  • The price on this item was excellent, and it was purchased at a time when Amazon offered free shipping; making it a super bargain. We were able to see the same item at a local Sports Authority to test it out; it’s a quality machine, and just the right size for our upstairs extra bedroom, while fitting in as another piece of furniture. I had read reviews about having difficulty assembling these bikes, but had no trouble at all. I am over 65, but put it together in 1-1/2 leisurly hours. Liked the fact that it came in parts, since I unpacked it in the foyer, carrying upstairs in several trips. My (also over 65) wife is primarily “riding” this; likes the recumbent style, giving back support, while getting much needed exercise. It does have some special “programs” that can be customized, but she just hits quick start; we really don’t need anything too complicated-fits the bill perfectly. It’s very quiet, and does not compete with her TV viewing. I did like the Schwinn name, although I found that they are now owned by Nautilus (also a good company name). I called about the control panel, on their 800 number, and they were very helpful. This is the largest item that I’ve ever ordered online, but won’t hesitate in the future, particularly from Amazon.com.

  • I just bought the Schwinn 220 recumbent exercise bike. Took me about 2 hours to assemble. Other reviews have said it was easy but, maybe I’m getting old. Took me about two hours. I wouldn’t call it easy. A lot of heavy parts to hold in place while screwing in the bolts and wires to plug in. But, after finally getting assembled, I tried it out. Like others have said, the User Manual doesn’t go into enough detail on how to use the panel. It’s trial and error and can be quite annoying but I finally got it to add a user. The bike itself is pretty nice. Seat is comfortable and adjusting is easy. The pedaling is smooth and good range of resistance levels. Only one thing that bothers me – if you go from one resistance level to another, it pauses with no resistance (like shifting into neutral) for about 3 seconds before it engages the new resistance level. In other words, changing from one resistance level to another isn’t a smooth transition. That is bothersome, especially at higher resistance levels.

Other than that, a good (not great) bike for the money. I owned another recumbent bike for five years until it finally broke down. I guess that’s to be expected after five years of everyday use. I hope this one will last longer. That’s the ultimate test.

  • HI, I also researched about which recumbent bike to use. I never saw the issue I am having and I want to warn others. The seat to me is very un-comfortable! There is a ridge on the seat, probably there for a good reason. However, the main reason I got this bike was so that I can sit and exercise and I cannot. Today, after much playing around with towels, pillows and anything that can fill up the ridge area, some comfort with a pad I found in my closet. Even then, I cannot sit on the bike for too long, hurts.

The bike is solid, however, once we got past level 6 there is a grnding noise, I cannot seem to get through the support line. Also, like someone said, the bike keeps counting even when you have stopped excercising. I have other machines in the house, when you stop so does the timer. We cannot figure out yet how to program this bike, the directions are not very good at all. Once again, I am trying to reach the support line provided and I cannot.

So, yes, the bike has real quality and hopefully except for the seat, we will figure out the rest and keep the bike. However, like I said the seat for us, real issue of comfort, not there.

  • Work perfect, very nice machine. Only and small problem was front wheel cover screws missing or they forgat the install.
